Functions of the Land Customs Department
1- Monitor the movement of incoming and outgoing goods through the Abu Samra Customs Department and the Land Freight Customs Department.
2 – Monitor the movement of passengers, inspect them, and examine their luggage, according to the executive decisions issued in this regard.
3 – Carry out inspection and examination of the means of transport, goods and individuals in accordance with the rules and principles stipulated in the regulating legislations.
4 – Implement legislations related to preventing or restricting the entry of some types of goods into or out of the country.
5- Receive customs transactions for clearance of goods permitted to enter into the country, complete customs procedures in relation to these goods, including the inspection, determination of the customs value, collection of the due customs fees and other fees according to the legislation, and disbursement in the account designated for this purpose.
6 – Supervise the storage of goods, either abandoned or those seized in customs warehouses, and follow-up legal measures in this regard upon the expiry of the legal storage period.
7 – Combat customs smuggling and illegal commercial activities, including seizure and confiscation of the goods subject of violation, as a prelude to taking legal measures in their connection.
8– Monitor the movement of passengers, goods and means of transport (in transit), collect their payable customs duties, and follow up on them until they leave the country and pay duties.
9 – Record data on the entry of goods into the state, according to the procedure of temporary admission for various purposes, and follow-up until re-export after the end of the legal period.
10– Monitor the movement of currencies, negotiable financial instruments of the bearer, precious metals or stones, in accordance with the regulations in force in the country and international treaties and conventions related to combating money laundering and financing terrorism.
11– Implement legislation and executive decisions on border measures to be implemented on customs entry points to protect goods' intellectual property rights from violation and piracy, in coordination with the concerned administrative units of the Authority.
